So I try.
I tried on the lonely boy,
but my sight,
it had been dimmed by my own lie.
So I ran.
Ran for the only door
I could find.
What lay before me was inside.
There she stood,
as she always stood,
but this time
there was something shimmering and white.
Was it lust?
Was it honest touch?
Was it your VHSs on the wall that got me to say,
“Would you take my hand for another one.”
I was there.
I was into nothing good.
Disco lights
come shining down on me.
We could stay,
stay for the hour,
or just dance
and try to forget what came before.
You could have this dance.
This house.
This life.
Was I half awake or half asleep when you said you wanted
to take my hand.
Just take my hand.
Would you take my hand for another one?
I’ll never dance with another
I’ll never dance with another
I’ll never dance with another one.

This is a very strong sophomore record - No sophomore slump here. This shows Gudasz' growth as a songwriter. She's branching out in different directions musically with some very cool production work. Some of the songs are even better than those from Oleander, her debut LP. While some of those sounds/textures are still present here, this record has some more challenging (and rewarding) results. For fans of Leonard Cohen, Sharon Van Etten, Aimee Mann and Joni Mitchell. travm0

Working with her friend and co-producer Nick Sanborn (of Sylvan Esso), Wasner crafts a unique, atmospheric sound, combining electro-pop synths, guitars, and wind instruments, while tastefully altering and layering her own resonant vocals. jmand300
